Privacy Policy
This policy describes how the GoldFish mobile application processes data when you use it. The app helps you plan fishing trips: you save spots on the map, and GoldFish requests weather data for those coordinates and shows a calculated bite forecast by fish species; the range and granularity of what is shown (including hourly detail) depends on the app version and your subscription plan.
1. General
This policy applies to the GoldFish mobile application. GoldFish lets you save fishing spots, browse the map, get weather forecasts for a selected spot, and view a calculated bite forecast for individual fish species.
Access to some app features may depend on your subscription plan.
2. What data we process
The specific data processed depends on which app features you use and which permissions you grant.
- Saved spots on the map. Coordinates of places you choose to save and related information, such as the spot name.
- Device location. If you grant permission, GoldFish may use your current location to power the map and help you choose fishing spots. You can turn off location access in your device settings.
- Weather data. For a saved spot’s coordinates, the app requests weather information from an external weather data provider.
- Subscription data. When you subscribe, we may process information about access status, subscription term, and technical purchase identifiers.
- Technical data. While the app runs, we may process data needed to load the map, perform network requests, and keep the service stable and secure.
- Locally stored data. Some information stays on your device in the app’s private storage, including coordinates, spot details, downloaded weather data, and data needed to show the bite forecast.
3. Third-party services
Some features rely on third-party services and platforms.
- Map provider — to display the map, markers, and interactions with geographic features.
- Weather data provider — to retrieve weather information for the coordinates of your selected spot.
Those third parties may process data under their own privacy policies.
4. Sharing data
We do not sell your personal data. Data may be shared with third parties only when necessary to operate the app’s features or when required by law.
- Spot coordinates may be sent to the weather service to obtain a forecast.
- Information related to displaying the map may be processed by the map provider.
- Subscription-related data may be handled by app stores (purchase setup, renewal, and purchase records).
- To verify and sync subscription status, technical purchase and access data may be sent to and processed by a third-party subscription management service GoldFish uses to reconcile access status with app stores.
5. Data retention
Much of your data stays on your device in the app’s internal storage. That includes saved coordinates, spot details, downloaded weather information, and data used to render the bite forecast.
We keep data only as long as needed to run the app, unless a longer period is required by law or third-party platform rules.
If you uninstall the app, locally stored data is usually deleted with it, but purchase and subscription history may remain with Apple, Google, or other providers under their own policies.
6. Your rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to obtain information about how we process data, to correct or delete data, to restrict processing, and to withdraw permissions you granted earlier—for example, access to your location.
7. Children
GoldFish does not include adult-oriented content and is suitable for a general audience. However, subscribing, making payments, and other actions that require parental or guardian consent under law must comply with applicable rules and platform requirements.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when GoldFish’s features change, when we change which services we rely on, or when legal requirements evolve. The current version stays published at the same URL where you are reading this page.
